The Academic Tutoring Program
pairs students ages 7-18 for free subject specific one-on-one
tutorial sessions with a volunteer tutor for the duration of
the school semester. Program participants receive intensive
educational support (i.e., tutoring, skill building, test prep,
etc.) from their tutor, as well as Educational Consultants,
who supervise the sessions that meet weekly for one and a half
hours.
The student’s progress is monitored through collection
of report cards, class exams, teacher’s reports, and updates
from tutors. The goal of the program is to strengthen students’
skills in the subject area they are receiving tutoring in so
they may be better prepared to excel in class and on citywide
exams.
